Nu Jazz with

Emily Francis Trio

One of the hottest young acts on the UK jazz scene, collectively the Emily Francis Trio cite a fairly eclectic and highly admirable mix of influences - from Herbie Hancock and Kenny Garrett, to Steely Dan and Brad Mehldau.

Melding the classic jazz trio format with influences spanning jazz-funk, soul and progressive rock, to the current New York scene, the end result is compositionally rich, original music, with a strong emphasis on melody and groove.

The EFT’s 2015 debut album, The Absent, received excellent reviews, being praised for displaying a compositional style which exhibits a penchant for mixing old and new - the use of analogue tape and vintage instruments creating fresh, exciting music, with a timeless feel.

In 2016, the EFT embarked on a new video EP project, New Town, which showcases their developing compositional style, with a stronger focus on improvisation, and more electronic and progressive influences.

The group will be performing material from their well received debut album, The Absent, video EP New Town, plus some new compositions from the next album and a few covers sourced from the jazz and pop worlds.

While the piano trio format is awash with attention-grabbing innovators such as Robert Glasper, Emily Francis is carving out a very distinctive niche for herself.  Catch her on her way to the top!

Emily Francis (Piano/Synths), Trevor Boxall (Electric Bass), Jamie Murray (Drums).
