"The songs are beautifully recorded and are a lovely distillation of myriad influences. Brilliant harmonies.
In short, really impressive.”
- Ed Piller, Acid Jazz Records
"Odette is a huge British talent. If you haven't 'discovered' her yet, you are missing a treat. Highly recommended.” -
Chris Cowey, Music TV Producer/Director
An exciting fusion of jazz, folk and World Music, delivered with the verve and energy of R&B (minus the latter’s pretentiousness), are Odette’s trademark.
An artist whose influences include Steely Dan, Erykah Badu, The Carpenters, George Benson, Susheela Raman, Joni Mitchell, Kate Bush and Maxwell, this singer/guitarist exudes charm, warmth and a silky-smooth, soulful, seductive voice.
During her four years travelling the world, working as a singer on cruise ships, Odette used her free time to concentrate on her playing and writing, returning with a collection of songs which formed her acclaimed debut album, A Shake Of The Hand. The end result is wonderful music that’s fresh, immediate, and leaves space for her unique and dynamic vocal arrangements.
Performing original compositions from her CD, plus some well chosen standards, her music is guaranteed to lift your soul and send you home with a smile.
As The Sunday Times' Clive Davis opined when reviewing the CD: “A star in the making . . . Definitely one for the summer playlist.”
Accompanying Odette is a stellar quartet of Stefanos Tsourelis (Acoustic Guitar/Oud), Kartik Raghunathan (Vocals/Violin), Dave Jones (Electric Bass) and Eric Ford (Drums/Percussion).
