Imaani: Eclectic Acoustic Soul

Arguably best known as the lead singer with the iconic Incognito, with whom she has had a long association, this is a rare chance to hear charismatic vocalist Imaani in a more stripped back acoustic format.

A terrific singer in the Soul/R&B tradition, Imaani’s CV is long and impressive. She first came to prominence as the UK’s 1998 entrant for the Eurovision Song contest (one of the better choices!), where she was runner-up, and went on to produce a highly successful single that charted worldwide.

Imaani later worked with Garage outfit Dub Conspiracy & Tru Faith, and together they smashed the UK charts with their single Freak Like Me. Her emotive lead vocals can be heard on the Urban SpeciesBlanket album, as well as on many other collaborative projects - from The Soca Soul Orchestra to The Super-Phonics. In 2012, she provided vocals on jazz funk band Down To The Bone's The Main Ingredients album.

Imaani's worldwide tours, television appearances, live and recorded output includes work with luminaries such as Nile Rodgers, Jocelyn Brown, Maceo Parker, Chaka Khan, Gloria Gaynor, Betty Wright, Mica Paris, Carleen Anderson, Leon Ware and Beverley Knight.

In 2014, she released her debut album, Standing Tall, to critical acclaim. One of its songs, Struggling, featured on the soul compilation album Luxury Soul 2015.

Imaani (Vocals), Dave Ital (Guitar), Lex Cameron (Keyboards), Michael Bailey (Double Bass), Wesley Joseph (Drums).
