Finding Home:  Kate Williams' Four Plus Three Meets Georgia Mancio

"Finding Home really is a wonderful creation . . . a sumptuous sound, rich in texture, and with a strong undercurrent of rhythmic drive." - London Jazz

An award-winning team of two of the UK’s leading artists, pianist/composer Kate Williams and vocalist/lyricist Georgia Mancio, in a collection of songs, old and newly co-written, arranged for trio, string quartet and voice, linked by the many concepts - both personal and global - of finding home.

Finding Home is the maturation of Kate and Georgia's 10-year collaboration, with past performances at Ronnie Scott's, Cleethorpes Jazz Festival and a televised broadcast for BBC Radio Scotland’s prestigious Jazz Nights at the Quay.

The project’s debut at the Pizza Express Jazz Club in 2017 received rave reviews, including a prized four stars from The Guardian, followed by subsequent appearances at Watermill Jazz, Birmingham Jazz Festival, Wakefield Jazz Club and the 606 Club.

It follows Kate’s collaboration with the Guastalla Quartet - first as part of Bill Evans And The Impressionists at the 2014 Guildhall Jazz Festival, then her own acclaimed album, Four Plus Three, and ACE assisted tour in 2016. Georgia joins this intriguing group after previous acclaimed guests Mike OutramGareth Lockrane and Kate’s father, classical guitar legend John Williams

Kate’s stunning compositions and arrangements reveal their deeper narrative with Georgia’s searing lyric writing and emotive live performances.

From the tragedy of the refugee crisis to romantic spoken word groove, reworked classics from Chile, Brazil and the Great American Songbook, and a focus on the natural world, loss and hope: Finding Home prompts many questions and delivers multiple answers. The refugee crisis is a subject close to Georgia's heart, as she has volunteered in Northern France and the UK these past three years.

This concert is part of Kate and Georgia's Arts Council England assisted tour promoting the release of their eponymous album.

There will be a Pop-Up Syrian Kitchen on the night, serving a limited selection of delicious sweet and savoury food, courtesy of Refugee Action - Colchester.
