"An uncompromising recipe of Tower of Power’s funky jazz hits, Toto’s slick pop/R&B crossover arrangements and Steely Dan’s intricate pop/jazz melodies." - SoulTracks

"If you didn’t know it, you could be listening to Incognito; a soulful groove with the vocals of Jaycilee Teterissa sounding just as good as Imaani from Incognito."

Tristan

"Rising Up is a perfect summation of the Tristan sound – catchy, melodic, strong lead vocal and sweet supporting harmonies over an Acid Jazz/Euro Soul backdrop," said Soulandfunkandjazz.com when reviewing the band's latest album, What Could Possibly Go Wrong.

Funky rhythm guitars, Hammond, Fender Rhodes and synths, plus a rhythm section playing solid grooves, tight bass lines, shimmering guitars with keyboard excursions always framing every composition, have since become Tristan's trademark, and this continues with their latest release.

The red-hot rhythm section and harmony-soaked backing vocals serve as a backdrop for new singer Jaycilee Teterissa to strut her vocal stuff, which she uses to convey an absolutely relatable lyrical story.

Tristan's debut release, Full Power - which featured US soul singer Heston, UK saxophone maestro Nigel Hitchcock and legendary American trumpeter Randy Brecker - received rave reviews, while their highly acclaimed follow-up, 2nd Phase, proved that this is a band with something to say, both albums going straight to No 1 in the UK soul charts. Lifestyle and The Spice Of Five also impressed.

If you dig bands such as Tower of Power, Snarky Puppy, or classic Acid Jazz acts such as Incognito and the Brand New Heavies, you'll dig this group too! However, what makes Tristan stand out from their contemporaries is the high quality of the compositions and arrangements.

Jaycilee Teterissa (Vocals), Coen Molenaar (Hammond & Fender Rhodes), Guy Nikkels (Guitar), Frans Vollink (Electric Bass), Sebastiaan Cornelissen (Drums).
