“Rarely does a jazz singer grace our scene with such breathtaking authenticity and natural flair. Dowling is this thing,” commented fellow award-winning vocalist Ian Shaw, while the JazzMann commented: "Dowling has an extraordinary voice that combines technical prowess with considerable emotional impact."

Winner of the Best Vocalist category in the 2019 British Jazz Awards, Sara Dowling is a jazz singer deeply inspired by the repertoire of the classic American songbook, her most important influences being Sarah Vaughan and Betty Carter.

However, there really is something so different, special and fresh about Sara, that audiences want to come back to hear her again. Firstly, the fabulous fearlessness with which she approaches the act of singing and, secondly, the burning conviction, the irresistible communicative power and jaw-dropping musicality she brings to it. And maybe the fact that she leaves no stone unturned in her preparation.

Sara trusts her voice and its range of timbre. She trusts her ability both to convey the emotion of very slow ballads – or to bring joy as she rip-roars and scats through faster songs. Above all, she makes a wonderful connection both to the music and to the audience.

Sara Dowling (Vocals), Gabriel Latchin (Piano), Dario De Lecce (Double Bass), Steve Brown (Drums).

“Her respect for each song is palpable and her diction worthy of envy.”
