Our base is the former St Mary-at-the-Walls Church - now the home of Colchester Arts Centre, which opened in 1981.
Like its predecessor, the Arts Centre Jazz Club (1983-96), Colchester Arts Centre Jazz Club is a not-for-profit organisation run by volunteers with a love and enthusiasm for the music.
Our remit is to mainly showcase established and emerging artists - plus, occasionally - 'local' professional musicians, either headlining, doing a support slot or accompanying solo guests.
Concerts usually are held on the 2nd/4th Sundays of the month, although we occasionally squeeze in the extra one or two from time to time. Doors now open at 7.00pm and the first set starts at 7.30pm
For the majority of concerts we have cabaret-style seating and tables, resulting in a cosy, intimate atmosphere - not always easy to achieve in a church! On busier evenings, a proportion of the seats may be in rows. On extremely busy nights, seating is in rows only.
We welcome people of all disabilities and genders. Access to the venue is wheelchair-friendly, we have a hearing loop and assistance dogs are welcome. Check out the Links page for more detailed information.
The club has Twitter and Instagram accounts, and a Facebook page. Please follow us or give us a 'Like' if you’re on social media. All can be accessed via the links on our Home Page.
While it's always gratifying when we have a full house for more established/well-known artists, it's also very important to support those who may be less familiar to you. So please support the club and the artists on a regular basis - and help keep both alive and kicking!
Do take advantage of our Jazz Express Offer: Book for three or more qualifying concerts, and get tickets for just £10 each!
